June will be the quiet month concerning the issue of SASSA grants because June will not see any increase in grants, legislative changes and has just one public holiday (Youth Day on June 16) that falls exactly within the gap between the grant period and SRD R370 batch period. Thus, June will become an excellent month for learning about payments for 2026/2027.

This paper offers you to find out the dates of all payments of the SASSA grants in June 2026, introduce the concept of the SRD R370 batch period and describe what to do if there are any delays in payments.

Permanent Grants: June 2nd, 3rd and 4th

The payment of permanent grants will be done on a rotational basis for three days each month beginning the first day of the month. This will depend on the order of preference, which is as follows: Old, Disability, and Children.

Grant TypePaydayDayTime
Older Persons Grant2 June 2026Thursday9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Disability Grant3 June 2026Wednesday9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Children’s Grants4 June 2026Thursday9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

And in the event that your grant should be paid directly into your bank account, then you need to be aware that this process will take only a few hours after payday. This is because the cash point dispensers at SASSA and selected branches of Postbank will start working early on payday. And in the event that you go for your grant at the Postbank ATMs, then your grant will be available from 06:00.

Recipients of Several Grants: In the event that you are a recipient of several grants, for instance Old People’s Grant and Grant-In-Aid, then payments will be made on the due date according to the primary grant, whereas the second grant will be paid according to the payment schedule and not the grant due date.

SRD R370: 24 to 30 June

As compared to the other permanent grants where the payment is done according to the calendar schedule below, the SRD R370 grant stands out because the payment of the grant is done using tranches in about a week to the end of the month. The window period for the June 2026 tranche will be between Wednesday 24 June and Tuesday 30 June.

Depending on your cell phone number, ID, mode of payment you use when applying for the grant and the date of your monthly verification, your payment batch will be known. It should be known that there is no specific way that batches that will give you the grant are known but what is known is that every month SASSA uses randomization. This means that those who are paid on the first day of May will be paid on the last tranche of June and vice versa.

After your monthly verification, your status on the portal will be Approved until payment of the grant is released after five days. This means that one should not worry seeing their status on the portal as Approved on 20 June even if the payment is not made.

SASSA Grant Payments April
Being Approved Doesn’t Necessarily Mean That Payment Will Be Done To You: The most frequent question asked on SRD by the government every month pertains to those people who have “Approved” status in their account and expect to get their payment immediately. This will not happen. The fact is that once you have the status “approved,” your request is accepted, but your payment will be done on 24-30 June.

And Then What about the Youth Day?

The Youth Day, which takes place on Tuesday, 16 June 2026, shall be observed as a public holiday in South Africa as it marks the Soweto uprising of 1976. As you can see, the Youth Day does not take place during any of the two periods in this month for which the Permanent Grant or SRD is being paid; thus, there is no effect of Youth Day on SASSA payment periods in this month.

What needs to be kept in mind here is that both the SASSA offices and Postbank will be shut down on the day of Youth Day. This means that if you have been planning to go to the office on the day of Youth Day to get your status checked or to complete your e-Life certification, then you need to find some other way out.

In case you get paid late

In relation to being paid late, there is nothing unusual about it; at the same time, there is nothing positive about it either. The possible reasons why you might be late with the payment until June 2026 may include the updating of your banking details after the last month, the e-Life flag for the permanent grant, SARS income flag for the SRD application, or just the SRD cycle batch being delayed.

What should you do first of all in case of delay? Firstly, you should make sure that the status of your SRD or SASSA permanent grant is updated and check whether it is “Approved” or “Paid.” In case of such an update, but the payment is still not made, you should wait a few business days, and usually, three days would be enough in case of bank or Postbank transaction. This should solve the problem; however, in case it does not work, you should do the following.
